Romance isn't dead! Budget, at home romantic ideas

This was originally going to be a Valentine's Day blog, but lets face it, Valentines, as lovely as it can be, is really an opportunity for shops, restaurants and the like to up their prices and fleece you for every penny; do you really love them if you are not willing to pay 93958% on the normal price to show them you love them one day of the year?

So, instead this is going to be a good old treat your wonderful partner to some good old fashioned romance type blog, but this little blog is about budget and indoor romance, whether you are low on the pennies, have a partner who has a disability, or just quite frankly don't want to deal with the world, these ideas are going to blow your mind.

OK, OK, maybe that is a bit dramatic, but I do think there are some nice ideas here....

So, fear not my little Chumlins, for I have a very special guide to help you out, whether it's V day, a special occasion, or it's one of the other 365 days of the year you wish you show your love just how much you care, here we go;

  • Bake together;

Wouldn't that be sweet? Get it...sweet...sweet treats...ahem...Let's continue. You could even have a little flour fight or a sexy moment like the pottery thing in "Ghost" but with kneading or something, oo er. Then you get to have a nice time eating them. You could even add them to...

baking, romantic baking, romantic ideas, i love you cupcake
How cute is this?! Very. I agree
  • Picnic in the garden (look at that bloody beautiful link!);

It'll be like those romantic movies where they have a cute little picnic in Hyde Park or something, only better because no people and your own toilets. Bonus points if you lay your head on the other's lap while they read to you! Oo, you could even feed each other, and do that hand interlocking thing with glasses.

I may be killed for this picture, but, it's a picnic and it made me giggle..
  • Create a slideshow of pictures;

Old and new, happy, silly, good and bad and get all mushy. It can be easy to forget some of the good times so having a little reminisce is just, quite frankly, lovely. You can then chat and giggle about all the memories you share which can lead to all sorts of fun...

  • Ready Steady Cook challenge;

Surely you're not too young to know what this is right?! Oh no, what if you are?! Right, get some completely random ingredients and make a random meal, no cheating and preplannng, don't spoil it for yourself. Then for added extra fun, pretend you are judging it as you eat, play nice...

  • Play a game;

Choose this wisely, otherwise you will forever be known as the one who threw the Rummycub when you were loosing even though you were in fact not at all loosing but the other person was not following the agreed rules...hypothetically, of course.

Side note...even the most basic of board games can be made...sexy...just saying

chopsticks game, romantic games, romantic fun, fun for couples, board game, diy romance
Oo, this was so much fun! Chopsticks game! Harder than you think
  • Nerf gun battle;

Just because! If you don't have nerf guns, why not used screwed up old papers for a paper snow ball fight, or just have a good old fashioned pillow fight. Hmm, what will the winner get?!

  • Create a comfy area on the floor;

Cushions, blankets, rugs, duvets, pillows, that super soft throw. Make it comfy, cosy and snuggle up together either with a film, a game or just to have a natter. Nattering if far too under appreciated me thinks!

  • Take a shower together;

Even just the act of washing each other, without getting sexy, oo er, can be a really intimate and sweet experience. Plus, slightly less romantic, but they can reach the bits you can't!

couples, lesbian couple, lgbt, face wipe, date night at home
Obviously, I wouldn't put a picture like that up, cheeky! So here is a face wipe!
  • Get very posh and do some arts and crafty stuff together;

Paint, knit, colour, sketch, or....go a bit Rose and Jack, whatever floats your boat (hehe, I didn't even plan that one!).

  • Pamper;

Who doesn't love a good pamper. Come on, even the men (oh heck, sexist, eek?!) love a good face mask. So get out those face masks, foot soaks, moisturisers and all those other pamper bits and really spoil each other. Bonus, you feel wonderful after!

Hehe, sexy face mask selfie or what! What! Cheeky!
  • Make all decisions with a flip of the coin;

Well, let's face it, literally anything could happen here. Anything. Left or right, up or down, this program or that, this game or that one...Who is cooking ?!

  • Star gaze;

Get all wrapped up and comfy and cosy outside, whether it's snuggled on blankets or on a bench, and look up at the stars. There is also a pretty cool app that you can use to find out what the constellations are. Fun, romantic and educational. Snuggle in tightly to keep each other warm and enjoy.

Left dark for added effect, just so you know
  • Cheese and wine night;

Honestly, need I say more?! If you want to be really posh and fancy, how about cheese fondue?

  • Candles, music and just the two of you;

So, something shocking... have a electronic free night, light some nice candles, put some music on you both like and just spend some quality time together.

wax melts, romantic candles, date night at home, romance on a budget
Actual home made wax melt, smelt blooming lovely!

Let's face it, we all have busy lives and it's easy to just slouch on the sofa and just take each other for granted. When was the last time you just spent time together? So, whatever you decide, just enjoy each others company and...

If all else fails...get out them love dice and have at it! (Cheeky!)

Oh definitely! Especially if you combine so you've somewhere to collapse after the war has ended! A fort? Amazing!! Think we may have to try that one x

I love it!! I think that nerf gun battle and creating a comfy area on the floor would be fun. We made a fort together once and it was loads of fun.
